Lone Mountain Hike

View from Lone Mountain

If you not already familiar with it, Lone Mountain sits in the northwest part of the valley and sits a bit east of the rest of the Spring Mountain range, separated by homes and the 215. For many Las Vegans, a trek up Lone Mountain was their first introduction to southern Nevada hiking. It remains an easily accessible, short, and only moderately challenging hike with a great reward in the form of an incredible view of the valley below.

If you get there early, make sure to bring your camera to capture some breathtaking shots of the the sunrise over the glitter of the valley and The Strip.

The top of the mountain is just over 3,300 feet. The trail is a bit steep in places, and like many hikes in the area, has some loose rock in areas. Therefore, you may want to refrain from making this hike with younger children.

For the shortest route to the trail head, you can park on Vegas Vista Trail road, which is to the west of the mountain. But if your more comfortable with a real parking lot and are looking for a longer hike, head on over to Lone Mountain Park, which sits just to the east at the base of the mountain.
